Individual therapy is usually 60 minutes and can be booked online once you are an established patient. Depending on symptoms and diagnosis evidence based treatment will be recommended to include play therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, trauma treatment, solution focused therapy, conflict resolution and increased communication skills.
Couples therapy is 60 minutes long and includes both partners. Typically sessions focus on communication skills and ways to bond and work towards a more harmonious relationship. Typically work is done using many of the Gottman techniques.
Often times family therapy is an essential part of treating a child or adolescent who has gone through significant stressors, mood dysregulation or behavioral problems.
Telehealth appointments are available via Doxy.com which similar to Skype or FaceTime but it is HIPAA secure. You will be able to login to an online "waiting room" and then you are able to see your therapist via video. Most insurances cover Telehealth in Arizona.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.
Somatic Experiencing is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, indigenous healing practices, and medical biophysics, together with over 45 years of successful clinical application. During Somatic Experience, the client releases traumatic shock, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma.
It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.
